A big part of the Because Christ Matters is to give back to the community by investing ourselves in
service to others. The CNU
BCM carries out a variety of mission projects throughout the year, ranging
from helping out at the Newport News free dental clinic to giving back to
local churches, who are incredibly supportive of our ministry.
Giving back to the community is a defining
aspect of the Baptist Collegiate Ministries for the fact that we wouldn't
exist without the generous giving of those around us. Every Monday
afternoon, when we meet for "WOW", a local church brings us a home
cooked meal to enjoy. We're able to gather together and fellowship, enjoy
this meal, and have bible study together. Without these churches, that
fellowship opportunity wouldn't be able to occur every Monday afternoon.
The Virginia Baptist Mission Board, as well as
other Christian organizations, offer a wide variety of missions
opportunities during the semester and summer. Every fall, the Baptist
Collegiate Ministry's state leadership team gets together and creates a
brochure of missions opportunities for BCM members to take part in. If
you're interested in such an opportunity, please visit the
state Baptist Collegiate Ministries site to
learn more about them!
