A: Yes, first semester students are allowed to pledge. However, you must have obtained a G.P.A. of 2.5 by the start of the following semester, or be placed on probation (see Article III in Chapter Constitution for more information about different types of membership) Q: How often do you take pledge classes? A: We typically take a pledge class each semester. The Rush period occurs around the third week of school, concluded by the pledge pinning ceremony. This ceremony is the start of the pledge period. Q: How long does pledging last? A: Pledging typically lasts for seven weeks and concludes with the initiation ceremony. Q: What makes Alpha Phi Omega different than other Greek organizations? A: Alpha Phi Omega is the National Co-ed Service Fraternity. This means our central focus is on different types of service, whereas other Greek organizations have different central focuses. Q: Is service all you do? A: No. Although Alpha Phi Omega is a service fraternity, we recognize the deisreablity of including a certain number of social events in our program. We believe that fun and fellowship are essential parts in preparing brothers for leadership and service. |
